Jason D. McCullough

Jason D. McCullough is a self represented artist. He works in oil and various drawing mediums. He is based in Colorado and produces Plein Aire, Landscape and Portrait based paintings and drawings.

My name is Jason. I have drawn and painted since before I can remember. I feel that having art in my life for so long has been a gift. I am forever grateful to have lived a life of observation. This website contains landscape and portrait work that started with a return to imagery based ideas I acted on in 2017. This effort has caused increasing focus and contemplation on the intrinsic connection humans have to landscape. We are forever connected to land. It is where we come from and what we go back to in the end. It is what we belong to. The land we exist in, create names and stories around and live out our short live on will be here, in one form or another, long after we are individually and generally gone. Painting people and landscape is a way for me to examine the experience of being human upon this large chunk of expelled star matter as we all continue to develop a sense of self, and in doing so question our place in all we perceive. In my work I am recording a place and moment. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do, sometimes.
